  1. I really enjoyed listening to this vlog and the detail you have gone into. Well done.
What part of your research did you enjoy looking at?
You have mentioned the fact he looks into neuroscience, how do you feel this affects his choreography?
I really liked the fact you have mentioned more than one impact he has on society and stated your own opinion.

    1. Thank you for your comment. I enjoyed reading the interview he did about his work, I also enjoyed reading about the impact and work he has done with younger dancers to help them. I feel like his scientific knowledge has aided his work as he has a greater understanding of how the body moves and works so he can really push the boundaries of dance and create new, unique movement.

  2. Your vlog was really well spoken and planned out. How do you feel McGregor has impacted your choreography.

    1. Thank you for your comment. I think McGregor has impacted my choreography as I incorporated his choreographic processes within my processes, for example I created a motif from the word 'dementia' which is a process he uses (shown in the ted talk linked above). He has also helped inspire some of my movement as I have included a lot of leg extensions in my choreography as they feature a lot in the duet from 'Infra'.

  3. Well done Mhairi, this is a very clear and engaging vlog! I love how much research you have done in order to really develop your knowledge. However, I would like to know, if you were to get the opportunity to redo your choreography, would you make your story less vague much like Wayne McGregors?

    1. Thank you for your comment. If I was to redo my choreography, I don't think I would make it as vague and open to interpretation as he does as I would prefer my audiences to be well informed and understand what they're watching. For example, 'Woolf Works' by Wayne McGregor is based from the novels written by Virginia Woolf, if the audience haven't read these novels they may not fully grasp the intention of the piece which could become an issue. I would rather my intention be clear to the audience.

  4. Well done, you have included a great amount of content, facts and detail. As well as this, you have an engaging presence as you speak. As a viewer, it is clear you have done a large amount of research into your choreographer.
Do you personally like his method of working? How does it make you feel when watching him choregraph with dancers?

    1. I find his method of working with dancers very interesting as he works in a very fast paced environment. He is always buzzing around when in rehearsal giving corrections and when choreographing he magically comes up with material without even thinking. He lets his dancers have input in his work as they copy his movements but as he works so quickly, they only pick up certain parts or may not do it as accurately, creating a whole new phrase. I personally find this very exciting as he is always moving but I also like how he works collaboratively with his dancers.

  5. Your vlog overall is very strong and clear, well done!
In your piece, Mcgregors movement style is clearly shown throughout your piece but I want to know why you chose him as your main practitioner and why his style connected with you more than the others?

    1. Thank you for your comment. I decided to use Wayne McGregor as my chosen practitioner as I knew he was a very popular choreographer however I had never actually seen his work before. After watching some of his work I felt very inspired as everything was very clean yet so fluid. I was also intrigued about his choreographic process as he uses a lot of improvisation based tasks within his process and is very hands on within a rehearsal setting. His style is very unique compared to other choreographers and I enjoyed his use of groups, duets and solos, also the amount of contact work used when there is multiple dancers. Additionally, I felt all his pieces were very different from each but yet you can still tell its his style from the unique lines and phrases he creates.
